This is a wonderful set! Lavishly etched/engraved silver plate tobacco canister cover features. A likeness of the “Blue Boar Inn” plus some stagecoaches, trees, a street scene and other buildings. The lid has a boar’s head surrounded by oak leaves! I was told the canister is an early advertising piece by Reed & Barton for. The American Tobacco Company, which produced Blue Boar tobacco in cans. The canister is unmarked. The tobacco can fits inside this fancy silver plate container for a more sophisticated presentation. Originally there was a wire bracket that would attach to the bottom that holds the can in place. Some loss of plating and a few some scratches/ and tarnish. I have not attempted to polish it. The Blue Boar Rough Cut Tobacco steel can is awesome! Paper Label with the hunt scene is in tact and in very good condition. Colors are bright and vivid! Also retains the partial blue U. The can does have some denting around the top and on the lid. The lid retains the original screw. You could also use the can inside the canister to hold cigars if you wish! About 6″ tall x 5.5″ in diameter. 1910 for a few years afterwards. A very unusual piece for the collector of early advertising or tobacciana. All my items have been stored in a Smoke Free/Pet Free home. I do have an adorable Russian Tortoise but he’s my baby! Regarding “used” items, please remember that imperfections caused by aging. How it was made and also how it was previously used are and can be expected. Please determine condition by yourself taking a close look at pictures and asking questions.
