Square ring wide mouth collar with original glass lid that just sits down over top of the lip….. Amethyst purple is the actual permanent color of the glass itself….. 5″tall (just over 6″with lid)….. 4 1/2across lip….. Sparkling near mint condition with no chips or damage, except some light roughness/tiny nicks around the top inner edge of mouth; a nice clean jar and lid with no haze. The original lid has a hollow knob handle in which a moist sponge could be placed to keep the cigars moist. I guarantee this cigar jar was made in the 1890s or early 1900 era. A beautiful deep amethyst glass antique tobacco cigar jar over 110 years old with its original 1900 dated glass lid….. The patent date is faint but I can make it out barely… PATENTED AUG 23 1900 (emb on underside of original glass lid)…. Square jar with flat oval window panels…. Small sunken vertical oval panels around the neck….. Notched ears on each side of neck……. 3 5/8″tall (5 1/4″counting lid)… The original matching lid has a square hollow knob top with oval panels matching the oval sides of jar. Excellent shiny nice condition with only one small shallow chip on top rim of jar. Lid has a small chip on each corner of the raised square base of hollow knob handle; Jar and lid are both sparkling clean with no haze. 12 sided jar is 6″tall x 4 3/4″across top rim…… 3 3/4″tall (7 1/2″counting lid)… The original 8 sided matching lid has a hollow top with circular “fingers” in middle which held a moistened cloth or sponge which kept the cigars moist. Excellent shiny nice condition with only one chip on top rim of jar and some roughness/tiny nicks on inside ledge of jar. Lid has a couple small chips on edge & some small shallow chips/dings on bottom inside edge. Jar and lid are both sparkling clean with no haze.
