There is a green colored number 11 inside the top. About 9 inches tall. Owner’s inventory mark on scotch tape on the base. Age and wear is showing due to age. No hairlines or cracks with a flashlight. There is an age line on her muff. That is what it looks like. Missing white beading on gown’s design. It doesn’t look chipped, but the pattern is irregular. Discoloration on base due to age.

Fantastic figural tobacco humidor jar! Purportedly produced by the German firm of Conta Bohme. I found reference to this online after quite a bit of digging. Apparently a catalogue from 1912 called’Cop May’ shows a photo of it with this attribution. See the final photo for this information. It will be included in the sale. The lid of the jar is broken in three pieces. It was a very clean break. The pieces fit together perfectly with no missing pieces. They could be glued back together almost seamlessly by anyone. A true conservationist could make the repair invisible. It looks great on display without its lid as well though. The jar portion is in near perfect condition. No chips or cracks, just very minor paint wear. This is an ultra rare example. You’re unlikely to ever see another of this model. The final photo shows the only other example I could find.

A rare, figural painted bisque humidor or dresser jar depicting the Prussian King – Frederick the Great (or Friedrich der Grosse). A full bust with shoulders comprises the base of the jar. A tricorn hat forms the lid. Ruling from throughout the middle part of the 18th century, Frederick was the last King of Prussia and the longest reigning Hohenzollern kings. He was an enlightened Monarch, thought to have been homosexual, and eventually succeeded by his nephew, Frederick William II. Simply a wonderful figural humidor or jar! It is in overall good, as-pictured used estate condition with some firing flaws to the body, some light edge wear, some light scratches and losses to the painted decoration, some very fine and light glaze scratches here and there, and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
