C1900 ATLANTIC POTTERY Octagonal Figural HUMIDOR TOBACCO JAR with CHERUBS, FACES
Please see full description and all photos. C1900 ATLANTIC POTTERY Octagonal Figural HUMIDOR TOBACCO JAR with CHERUBS, FACES. This fabulous antique pottery tobacco jar was an estate find. It was manufactured by Atlantic Pottery. The Atlantic Terra Cotta Co. Based in Atlanta, operated four plants, including two in New Jersey, one in New York, and one in Georgia. It stands just under 10 in height to the top of the pine cone shape finial when the lid is in place. The jar is octagonal, and measures 5-1/2 across the flat sides at the rim, not including the relief figures. It is a heavy piece, weighing slightly over 4.5 pounds. Each of the eight sides has a winged cherub in high relief; some are playing musical instruments. Above the cherubs, there is a top border of eight bearded men’s faces. The lid has relief acanthus leaves. The dark green glaze is matte on the outside, and glossy on the inside. There are a few chips or flakes to the lid. I have included close-up photos. The jar will be well packed. Please do not ask me to falsify documents. The ball is now in your court. Please do not assume…. Always contact me first. I can hold the first item up to 7 days only. Do not pay for the first item until I send the combined invoice for all items. I pack carefully with bubble wrap and plenty of padding. It is calculated using the weight of the package and the distance it has to travel. I usually offer a choice of Priority (fastest), Parcel Post (good for heavy items), and First Class for packages under 13 ounces. All sales are considered final. It is your responsibility to note the size and condition of the item. Ask questions if you are unsure. You have the luxury of having them delivered to your door. I research and describe each item to the best of my knowledge. I will always accept any additional information that you may have. – I always clean my items if appropriate. Please keep in mind that most of my items are old. There will probably be signs of age and use, and small imperfections. It is decorated in green and brown and beige colors. It is numbered 554 on the bottom. The humidor is 7 1/2″ tall to the top of the finial and 6″ across. It weighs 3 lbs-substantial.
