Vintage Carved Wood Humidor Pipe Cigar Smoking Stand Igorot? Very old, beautiful piece! I’m unsure where this figure was made? Possibly made out of mahogany wood. Measures 9 in height.

German i would think c1880. It has an aged metallic gold finish. Someone put paint on the inside perhaps it smelled of old tobacco and they wanted to use it for something else. Small bits of red paint here and there on outside a little greeny white paint left foot. Small imperfections chip on left ear all not very noticeable. Stamped on the bottom dark brown pottery. Not mint or perfect but it is late Victorian but it is pretty dam cute, and i like his little padlock on the collar. This is a beautiful majolica humidor or covered bowl, with a figural aspect, an Arab in traditional Arabic dress, who is sitting on top of the humidor as if he were taking part in a conversation in which everyone is sharing a tobacco pipe and passing it around. It dates to about 1910, give or take a few years and was likely made in France or a little north of France. There are many colors and they are all quite lovely blues, pinks, reds, yellows, browns, and greens. On one side of the bowl section is a basket-weave pattern and on the other are two crossed smoking pipes with above and below them are the words “Old Friends, ” presumably the friends with which he is sharing a friendly pipe. It is in perfect condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs of any kind. There is what might look like a lid rim chip in the very first picture to the right of the lid, but it is not a chip. It is a firing defect, if one could call it a defect. I see it as just part of the high temperature firing process of lead glazed majolica. 7.5 inches tall. 4.5 inches diameter. Great Piece and great for any collection of majolica or smoking peraphernalia! Or just a stand alone for your shelf, desk, nightstand or whatever!
