The whole thing is 8″ H x 5.5″ W. The glass jar alone is 4.75″ x 4″. Please note there is one small chip on the edge of one of the glass panels. Other than that it is in overall good condition. The brass plated metal lid is shaped like an Egyptian pharaoh, a motif made popular in the 1920s after the discovery of King Tut’s tomb. Please note that the plating has some wear but there’s no physical damage.

A rare, figural painted bisque humidor or dresser jar depicting the Prussian King – Frederick the Great (or Friedrich der Grosse). A full bust with shoulders comprises the base of the jar. A tricorn hat forms the lid. Ruling from throughout the middle part of the 18th century, Frederick was the last King of Prussia and the longest reigning Hohenzollern kings. He was an enlightened Monarch, thought to have been homosexual, and eventually succeeded by his nephew, Frederick William II. Simply a wonderful figural humidor or jar! It is in overall good, as-pictured used estate condition with some firing flaws to the body, some light edge wear, some light scratches and losses to the painted decoration, some very fine and light glaze scratches here and there, and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. This little stand is 24″ high 11″ deep 15 wide, made of wood. King Charles Spaniel hand painted on yellow finish. The surface has crackle distressed finish due to age. The interior is stained black wash. Copper liner is on interior top only. The front leg bottom knobs are painted black. This does need a cleaning and possibly wax finish. DESCRIPTION: Rare antique Conta Boehme Porcelain figural Humidor of King Wilhelm. This Humidor is an fine example with nice details and great color. His Face is painted so well it looks like a real person. The condition is Very Good to Near Excellent, see photos. There is some light wear at the crown. Also a small piece missing from the Crown that would have went from the cross to the back. The only other photos I could find of this Conta Boehme Humidor did not even have the Cross on the Crown. It was just missing. So I think the Cross must be the piece that usually got broken off. It’s very nice that this example does have the Cross on the Crown. A great addition to your collection.
