This is a large and rare figural humidor featuring a man smoking a cigar in a purple cap. It measures 9.5 inches in height and 7 inches in width. The humidor is vintage and was manufactured in Germany. It is designed to store cigars and would make a unique collectible item for tobacco enthusiasts or collectors of antique and vintage pieces. A majolica humidor in the shape of a pig dressed. With a purple jacket. Probably Austrian in manufacture, dating from the last quarter of the 19th century. Very desirable form of a personified pig in a purple jacket. Primarily in colors of peach, and purple. The pig’s head acts as the humidor lid handle. As is usual there is an hole in the base for a sponge to keep tobacco from drying out. The original natural sponge is still present. If you choose to you can probably easily remove it by wetting the sponge. Approximately 6 1/2 in height. There is 3/8 chip on the pig’s ear. Check the photographs for details. There are a few glaze skips here and there which is common on these humidors. There are no cracks and the interior is clean.

Wonderful antique majolica tobacco humidor or jar! This one features a white haired man wearing a purple hat or skull cap, blue jacket, pink bowtie, and white shirt. We’ve seen similar jars but not one with the long sideburns that this gentleman has. His expression is fantastic, very life-like. This jar stands just over 5 tall and is in excellent condition. The interior of the cap has space for a dampened sponge which would have been used to keep the stored tobacco moist. The bottom is marked as shown with impressed numbers and we believe this is of German or Austrian origin. The top piece the hat as shown in pictures 9 & 10 does have a small chip. A small amount of color loss back top of shirt as shown in picture. A very RARE piece of pottery.

Lovely vintage ceramic humidor from England. It’s hallmarked on the bottom with “England, Pegasus, Crown Devon Fieldings, Made In England” with the crown and the number “5533”. There is also an incised number on the bottom of “1336”. It measures 6 1/4 in. Wide X 5 1/4 high with and opening of 4 1/2. The lid locks down when turned and has a rubber seal to lock in the freshness. The color is iridescent blue-purple with two horses and trees on both sides of the pot. It’s in great condition, seals perfect. There is a brass piece on the lid that you push down and turn to close it. These were made by Crown Devon for Dunhill London.
