Crafted from turned oak with pronounced grain and fitted with genuine sterling silver mounts. This piece features ornate sterling silver ring handles, a silver lid finial, and a decorative silver cartouche with monogram. The underside is clearly stamped “STERLING”, confirming. 925 silver mounts (not plated). The original interior sponge is present, indicating use as a tobacco humidor. A handsome and functional antique, suitable for display, tobacciana collections, or traditional décor. Solid turned oak construction. Genuine sterling silver mounts. Original lid with interior sponge. Decorative monogrammed silver cartouche. Two silver ring handles. Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. Antique tobacco holder humidor. Made by Rockford silver p. Is etched “The fragrant weed”. On the bottom rim is a dent, lid fits good. Good for the age. It looks like there were a couple books back in 1907 and 1925 called Fragrant weed. Not sure if this might of had something to do with the book. Measures 4 5/8″ x 6 1/2″ tall.

Rare CAC Lenox Sterling Silver Overlay Tobacco Jar Humidor. With’Blooming Nicotiana Tabacum’ (Cultivated Tobacco Plant) Motif. Antique Tobacco Jar Humidor by Ceramic Arts Company/Lenox Inc. Of Trenton, NJ, with a Rare Tobacco Plant Motif – a Beautiful Sterling Silver’Blooming Nicotiana Tabacum’ (Cultivated Tobacco Plant) Overlay by La Pierre Mfg Co. On the opposite side is a Sterling Silver Overlay Monogrammed Shield with the overlapping calligraphic initials’SWL’. The barrel-shaped porcelain tobacco jar/humidor is in great condition in an attractive tri-color glaze finish – dark brown, moss green, and orange sunset. The sterling overlay is intact, except for two tiny tobacco leaf tips at the bottom of the plant that aren’t very noticeable. Note that the sterling has lifted slightly where the leaf tips broke – likely caused by careless polishing of the sterling overlay. There’s also a visible’crease’ in the sterling tobacco leaves along the right side (see pics). The wonderful antique work-of-art measures 6-1/8″ high with a 5-1/2″ diameter at its widest bulge. Its overall weight is 2 lbs unpacked. With the exception of the crease & broken leaf tips, the Overall Condition, commensurate with its age of 120+ years & use over that timeframe, would be VG++. But with the overlay damage, the Lenox tobacco jar/humidor with the rare tobacco plant motif is still considered a very nice piece, rated as a Good+. Being offered here at a reasonable. Very cool antique cigar/cigarette wooden box. Does NOT include original key. A few chips on the corners (see photos) but otherwise is good condition. I believe the accents to be silver or silver plated.

This silver box is an elegant, hallmarked vintage silver on copper cigar / cigarette humidor box with a cedar lining made by Friedrich Silver Co. Of Brooklyn, NY most likely in the 1930s. It features a unique design with a rearing lion / griffen engraved on the top of the lid and has four ball feet. The lid hangs over the box, making it easy to lift. Them box’s shows design adds to its value and aesthetic appeal an dit shows well. The hinges work well. This is a great collectable. The box weights 321 grams, so is of substantial weight. The Friedman Silver Co of Brooklyn, New York was established by Joseph Friedman in 1908, and in 1960 was acquired by Gorham. Exterior 5.25″ Long x 3.75″ Deep 1.25 Tall. Interior 5″ Long x 3″W Deep with a cedar wood liner.
