Black Forest Carved Wood. Cigar Serving Chest with Drawer. Fresh from the Dallas estate of an avid collector of fine antiques , a hand carved. Elaborately detailed on the top and four sides, the chest has floral and leaf carvings on the top, front and two sides. Closed, the cigar chest looks like a beautifully carved box. When the lid is lifted the doors swing open to reveal 42 spaces for holding cigars. There is a drawer at the bottom of the chest for matches or supplies. From any angle it is perfect for display. Chests like this were used after dinner for serving cigars to the men, when the women retired to another room. MEASUREMENTS: The chest is 9 3/4 inches wide, 8 inches high and 8 3/4 deep. CONDITION: In excellent pre-owned antique condition as shown in images. Has the original lock but the key is missing. There is one small chip on the bottom of the chest as shown in the last photo. It is necessary to handle with care to make sure the doors of the chest close properly. Wonderful patina and wear consistent with age. Please examine the photos as they are part of the description.
