Antique Oak Cigar Box/Dispenser Coal box shape, shovel cigar cutter on back c1900

An interesting Edwardian Cigar box/dispenser made in Oak with Brass Hinges, Decorations, Handle and Cutter. Made in the shape of a coal box with the shovel on the back forming the cutter. Inside the lid is a striker plate to strike the matces on and on the top a small removable tray either for ash or more likely for the matches. Cigars of up to length 12cm can be fitted inside. The amount you can fit in would depend on the size, 100 Hamlets or 25 Henri Winterman 1/2 Coronas aproximately. (Cigars pictured are not included). The overall size is 17cm tall (with the handle). This scarce 1950 “Red- White- Blue litho humidor 100 cigar tin, measuring 5 1/4″ x 7 3/4″ x 5″ is in good condition with no rust, some small dents on the lid and on one side at the base , and some minor age related paint scratches. This bold red rectangular tin with rounded corners was made by the Heekin Can Company, Cincinnati, OH. The cigars were manufactured in Factory 463, 9th District, PA.
