Humidor for Tobacco and Cigars with Original Lid. Shakespeare Series Ware -‘Shylock. This brilliant piece was made by Royal Doulton in 1912. It is from the very first release of earthenware patterns. The Shakespearean themed series was released with various characters taking centre stage across the designs. This humidor features Shylock, a moneylender from William Shakespeare’s play, The Merchant of Venice. 14.5cm diameter x 11cm high. Brown Royal Doulton backstamp with crown and lion wearing a crown. Above this you will see’Shylock’. To the left of the backstamp, DOULTON is impressed. Above’Shylock’ in blue ink is the pattern number – D3596. Minor wear to the green colour on the rim of the humidor. You will notice web crazing starting to appear, which is normal in items of this age. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition. It has been well cared for. All items are packaged extremely carefully. I even double box fragile items if I’m not confident in just one box. Vintage items are rare so they need to be kept in one piece. I want them to arrive safely at your door. Details are in the’return’ section.
