Here’s a beautiful yellow 1890s Double Eagle Cigars labeled 8 sided glass cigar jar from Theobald & Oppenheimer of Philadelphia…. Jar itself has no embossing, but colorful original label has picture of a double headed eagle & crown… REGISTERED BY THEOBALD & OPPENHEIMER CO…. Jar is early machine made… Smooth threaded collar with white painted tin lid… Excellent shiny near mint condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean jar with no haze. The Theobald & Oppenheimer Company founded in 1860 was one of the largest producers of hand rolled cigars in Philadelphia. They employed many women and minorities. Fabulous 1890s figural silver plated, Rogers and Smith Meriden Connecticut hunting dog humidor. Measuring 8.25″ x 4.5″ x 7.5, the silver plated humidor boasts embossed foliate decoration and two large plated dogs to the double lids. One dog, a spaniel, holds a dead duck in its mouth, while the other dog looks on, perhaps jealously.
