Victoria Austria Porcelain Tobacco Jar / Humidor, signed Haufmann, c. 1900

Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely Austrian porcelain tobacco jar or humidor with silver plated lid. The silver plated collar has nicely aged patina and is firmly attached to the body. The lid is heavy silver plated metal with a large pipe attached to the top. The body of the tobacco jar is made of white porcelain and is decorated with an hand-painted medallion signed Haufmann featuring a seated gentleman wearing a red cape with three pretty maidens attending to him. The exterior body of the jar is painted with a mottled background in shades of green and golden brown. Measures 5 1/2″ high (to top of collar) and 7 3/4″ high (to the top of the pipe) with the body having an overall width of 5 1/2. Weighs 2.4 pounds. The body of the cracker jar is in excellent Estate condition with the only noted flaw being a small scratch on the face of one maiden and a tiny white pin-prick in the painted background about 2 left of the other scratch mentioned. The silver plate lid is in very good condition with the only noted flaw being some tarnish in the silver finish on each end of the attached pipe. Antique European Leather Humidor C1900, Euro Crest, For Restoration, Exceptional

The value of this humidor is in the leather image that was created by craftsmen with exceedingly gifted hands. With a restoration, that seems simple enough to me, you would have something that would be destined to be handed down from father to son, perhaps for generations. Leather work is not exactly in my expertise. That said, what is here is of substantial aesthetic value. With restoration, it would have potential for substantial monetary value. The humidor measures: 10 1/4 inches wide, by 8 1/8 inches in depth, and 3 3/4 inches from the bottom to the top. There are 21 spaces for the thin style cigarellos. The large bottom tray has spaces for 7 cigars. There is room to stack them 3 rows high (21 cigars in all). The upper tray is for two cigarette packages. Elie Bleu Humidor Flor De Tabacos Fine Cigars Green Sycamore Ellie Blue Gift

This is for an Elie Bleu “Flor de Tabacos” “Fine Cigars” humidor in green sycamore with Birdseye maple inlays. It has dings low in the front and low in the back as shown. Only the front is worth mentioning. The back side of a humidor doesn’t factor in unless you have it facing out. All other surfaces look like new. There are lots of reflections in the photos. The only actual marks are shown in the 3rd and 7th photos. FYI if you or someone you know can work varnish with 3000 grit sandpaper and buff you can restore most anything. It’s just a finish like working out clear coat on a car. These humidors are all made in Paris, France and their internal components are sourced from Germany. Elie Bleu is known for it’s fine inlays and marquetry. This one has tasteful earth tones of green and brown with all text and borders in gold. The solid cedar interior appears to have never been used. The interior is evenly colored with no stains from water or tobacco. The cedar divider can be moved left/right or removed completely. The humidifier has a mark in the anodized finish and the hygrometer has marks at the lower edge which are only seen at eye level. The humidifier’s sliding shutter opens and closes correctly. Measures 9.75″ x 8.75″ x 4. Signed by the artist. If there’s a problem let me know and I’ll work with you. OFFERS: Depending on the item I can sometimes adjust a little.
