Antique Majolica Clown Humidor C. 1880s

Up for sale is an Antique Majolica Clown Humidor of Austrian or German manufacture, marked 8350 and is 6 inches tall. These humidors were popular from the late 1880s until the beginning of World War I (1914), when most potteries closed throughout Europe. It is in very good condition with his left shoe chipped and interior crazing. The paint colors are bright and the mold work is detailed. The lid is the clowns face and head. He is wearing a jesters cap and a ruff. There is an oriental clowns face painted on the front of his body/costume. Made from superb lacquered solid wood and brass hardware, this timeless and elegant mid 90s cigar humidor can hold a very large number of cigars, depending on their size. A CREDO Humidifier attached on the inner upper lid with a magnet maintains the required humidity in the box once it has been moisten. A Hygrometer attached on the inner lid as well gives the humidity reading in the box. The entire exterior bottom side of the humidor is lined in light soft felt. 40 cm x 28 cm x 10 cm. The humidor is en excellent condition, as it has been rarely used. The exterior is in like new condition, the interior is in very good and clean condition with some minor spots as shown in the photos. All questions are welcomed. This is a final sale.
