Scarce 1920s FraBac round litho 50 cigar humidor tin in very good condition

This scarce 1920s “Fra:Bac” round litho 50 cigar humidor tin, measuring 5 1/8″ x 5 1/8″, is in very good condition with a small dent and crease on the lid, some superficial rust on the lid interior and some minor age related paint scratches. Much of the original high gloss finish remains. This very impressive black and red tin was made by American Can Company, Boston, MA. It features bold graphics advertising the “Fra:Bac” tobacco brand. The tobacco was manufactured by the Charles B. Perkins, Boston, MA in Factory 26, District, MA. Antique Black Forest Standing Bear Pipe Tobacco Holder Hand Carved Wood 8.5 B9

Antique Hand Carved Black Forest Bear Tobacco Pipe Stand Holder. Black Forest hand-carved linden-wood hand-carved pipe tobacco holder stand modeled as hiking bear with walking stick and basket on his back, glass eyes. Holds up to 6 pipes. Tourists loved this carvings, and the art form became more well-known after exhibits of the work were shown at fairs like the 1851 Great Exhibition in London, the 1876 Centennial Exhibit in Philadelphia, the 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair and the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris. A similar stand is shown in the book entitled Swiss Carvings, The Art of the Black Forest by Arenski, Daniels and Daniels, published by The Antique Collectors Club in 2004. Good condition EXCEPT c. Rude repair to end of one pipe holder, damage to inside edge of one of the bear’s paws. Please examine all photos. RARE GENTLEMAN DOG with CIGAR Tobacco Jar Antique Majolica Pottery Humidor c1880

RARE GENTLEMAN DOG with CIGAR Tobacco Jar Antique Majolica Pottery Humidor c1880. This is a rare antique Austrian Majolica Tobacco Jar known as the GENTLEMAN DOG with CIGAR Tobacco Jar. This two-piece tobacco jar, or humidor, is modeled in deep relief. And glaze are very well done. The subject is a well-attired GENTLEMAN DOG with CIGAR Tobacco Jar. This well-dressed Dog wears a tam slouch cap, bow tie, long tailed jacket, a waistcoat; his hands in his pockets, a cigar dangles from the side of his open mouth, and he is giving a wink. The head forms the top of the tobacco jar. The underside of the lid (head) has a recessed area to put a damp sponge and is nicely fitted on the matching base. On the top, the inside and underside is glazed; the rim is unglazed. On the base, the top rim and the inside of the underside base is unglazed. The underside bottom is unglazed. The tobacco jar has colors including a background decorated with dark brown, gray, green, off-white, and pink. This is fine antique Austrian majolica, earthenware that has an opaque tin glaze, made in Austria. The estimated date is circa 1880. This RARE GENTLEMAN DOG with CIGAR Tobacco Jar is in very good condition- there is a surface glaze loss on the back collar. Condition status includes minimal normal wear and rubbing, typical crazing, minor glaze losses, firing flaws, and fretting. Overall, this work is sound, having no chips, cracks, or major defects, and having had no apparent repairs or restorations. It is noted that old majolica is not inherently “perfect” – pieces were still mold formed in this era and as such have marks like little dents in the pottery which are glazed over. This isn’t damage- this is part of the history of old pottery and how it was made. Please see all photos which are a part of this description. Antique 6 Sided Amethyst Glass Cigar Jar With Original Hollow Knob Glass LID

Square ring wide mouth collar with original glass lid that just sits down over top of the lip….. Amethyst purple is the actual permanent color of the glass itself….. 5″tall (just over 6″with lid)….. 4 1/2across lip….. Sparkling near mint condition with no chips or damage, except some light roughness/tiny nicks around the top inner edge of mouth; a nice clean jar and lid with no haze. The original lid has a hollow knob handle in which a moist sponge could be placed to keep the cigars moist. I guarantee this cigar jar was made in the 1890s or early 1900 era. The beautiful amethyst or purple color of this glass is a result of the presence of manganese in the glass, which was a decolorizer to turn the glass clear. Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a boxand some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster. To those “purists” who falsely believe that glass cannot turn this deep amethyst color naturally, I could take you to places where bottles and glass have turned this same shade of purple from being in the sunlight for many years. Antique handmade English wood silver-plate porcelain tobacco jar humidor box

Up for sale is a wonderful handmade antique English lidded tobacco jar. It hand made from wood and has a sheen finish with silver-plated handle and badge on the face. It also has a matching wooden removable lid. The inside is lined with thick white porcelain bucket and also has a high gloss finish. It measures 6 1/2 inches tall without measuring handle by 5 3/4 inches wide. The piece is in nice condition but has a split where the two pieces of wood were mounted together. Refer to last photo.
