Salt Glaze Stoneware Tobacco Jar with Lid Relief Figures Beauvais 19th C France

A late 19th century French Beauvais. Salt Glazed Stoneware Tobacco Jar w/ Pewter Cover. A letter “V”is impressed on the bottom of the jar. Size: 5 5/8″ H x 4 1/8″ diameter D. There are wonderful relief figures (4) wrapping around the jar, with two daisy-like flowers between each figure. The figures are bordered below and above with a wonderful beaded repetition, and the base is of a twisted rope design. The color reminds me of a mixtures of caramel and chocolate—very warm and delightful next to a pipe collection. Thank you for looking.

THIS PIECE MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 9 INCHES TALL, AND IS IN GREAT CONDITION. THERE IS A CHIP ON THE INSIDE OF ONE OF THE INDIAN CHIEFS FEATHERS. THIS CAN BE HIDDEN DEPENDING ON HOW YOU PLACE THE PIECE. THERE IS A RATTLE SOUND INSIDE THIS PIECE. I’M GUESSING IT IS SOME LOOSE HARDENED CLAY. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE RSTK DECORATIVE PIECE. IT DEFINITELY HAS A PRESENCE, AND WOULD BE THE PERFECT ADDITION TO ANY ART COLLECTION. PLEASE LOOK VERY VERY CLOSELY AT THE PICTURES, AS THEY ARE A LARGE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.
