Man drinks in beer barrel Tobacco Humidor Jar Antique Johann Maresch

Man Drinking in beer barrel. German, Terra Cotta, figural. No text on this specimen. By: Johann Maresch ; circa 1890s. Description and Condition: This man drinking while inside a beer barrel is a tremendous tobacco jar, with great presentation – very expressive. He appears to be wearing a suit and tie, and having a great time with his beer. Overall this antique tobacco jar is in very good condition! Only condition issues of note: there is a chip on the bottom rim of the figural lid (as shown in red), and some small color loss around the lid and jar rims. A prior owner put soft putty in two spots on the jar, which I imagine is to gently cushion and prevent the lid from sliding. The jar is fairly sizable in terms of circumference, I will update dimensions over the weekend. Height: 7.5 tall from bottom to top of head. Width: 5.5 at widest portion of barrel. Wood panels/slats show evidence of some shifting due likely to warm drying over time. 7 wide with bail handle down. 4-vintage 9 Globe Tobacco Co Detroit Pat 1882 Amber Barrel Glass Bottle Jar

4-VINTAGE 9 GLOBE TOBACCO CO DETROIT PAT 1882 AMBER BARREL GLASS BOTTLE JAR. These are original hand blown, ground lip Globe Tobacco Co glass barrel shape jar dated 1882 and with its original tin lid….. GLOBE TOBACCO COMPANY DETROIT PAT OCT. 10th 1882 emb on front of jar. Jars are in beautiful condition with no chips or cracks. Tin lids are rusty with some better than the others. See pics for condition. Pics number 10 and 11 show that one of them looks like there might some remnants of tobacco in there? Also, the difference in lighting is not an illusion. Some are lighter and it almost seems like they get darker. I thinks its very cool to see the difference in amber darkness. Im not an expert when it comes to these, so if you have questions please ask. Johann MARESCH Czech TOBACCO Humidor JAR Figural SAILOR Barrel Vintage ANTIQUE

Handsome and hard to find vintage terracotta humidor or tobacco jar from Johann Maresch. The head of a smiling sailor rests atop a wood grain barrel. Nice addition to a tobacciana (cigar pipe) collection. SIZE: 4.25 (11cm) diameter & 7.75 (19cm) tall approx. CONDITION: Very Good vintage condition with minimal paint loss. There is one small chip on the rim of the lid (not seen when in place) and one shallow chip on the rim of the base. MARKS: impressed Czechoslowakia JM and a symbol on the base.
