Antique Art Nouveau Early Villeroy & Boch Pottery Humidor 137 Very Rare

ART NOUVEAU, VILLEROY & BOCH POTTERY HUMIDOR/COVERED JAR: This gorgeous antique pottery piece is very rare and unique. It is styled in a wonderful art nouveau flair. The cover also has a beautiful acorn shaped knob on the top. The glaze is a mottled glaze containing shades of blue and mauve. It is extremely pleasing to the eye. The interior of this covered jar is glazed in mauve. It is approximately 8 tall from base to top of the acorn knob. It is approximately 5 wide. It is signed on the bottom with the Villeroy & Boch mark, the number 137 and the artist’s initials. This piece is in wonderful vintage condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, crazing or repairs. William L Safire Walnut Cigar Box Presidential Medal of Freedom Winner & Author

This cigar box was William Lewis Safire’s personal walnut cigar box. Safire was a speechwriter for US President Richard Nixon, an American author, columnist for the New York Times. Winner of 2006 United States Presidential Medal of Freedom and Board Member of the Pulitzer Prize. This item was acquired at the estate sale of the late author. The cigar box is in good condition and was produced by Decatur Industries and is a solid walnut cigar humidor box with the Authors name engraved on a gold metal plate on top of the box. This cigar box was owned by one of Nixon’s key speechwriters who helped shaped the course of American history with his speechwriting. This rare 1910s paper label “Hilarita” 25 cigar humidor tin, measuring 5″ x 3 5/8″ x. 3 5/8, is good condition with no dents, one small superficial rust spot on the exterior bottom and some minor age related paper scratches and discoloration. This very attractive brown faux wood tin features a beautiful detailed portrait of a brunette woman wearing three delicate necklaces. Hilarita Reed was married to a Civil War physician. This rare 1900s “Protection” paper label hinged humidor cigar tin, measuring 3″ x 5″ x. 6 1/2 is in good condition with a small amount of superficial rust on the interior bottom, some denting on the lid and and some age related plating loss and paper discoloration. The hinge is in excellent working order. This very attractive brass colored tin features two paper labels with a the same detailed image of Doberman Pincher guard dog with a revolver and crossed spears under the word “Protection”.
