Antique handmade English wood silver-plate porcelain tobacco jar humidor box

Up for sale is a wonderful handmade antique English lidded tobacco jar. It hand made from wood and has a sheen finish with silver-plated handle and badge on the face. It also has a matching wooden removable lid. The inside is lined with thick white porcelain bucket and also has a high gloss finish. It measures 6 1/2 inches tall without measuring handle by 5 3/4 inches wide. The piece is in nice condition but has a split where the two pieces of wood were mounted together. Refer to last photo. Antique English Pipe Tobacco Smoking cabinet Wall Hanging or sit on Tabletop Beautiful Oak wood and brass fititngs. The wood piece on right (interior) that holds the tobacco jar is not permanently fixed. I believe it was mage that way to insert jar. 1 crack in top of panel on left door, seems to be resulting from the brass screw that attaches to pipe rack on reverse side.. A little separation of the panels from the frame on front doors from Time. On inside front edge and a little nick in wood. 12 3/4″ wide x 17 3/4″ high x 6 3/4 deep. This Benson & Hedges humidor was made and owned by Mr. John Bethune Stein who was a scientist who studied diseases of the mouth for physicians and dental students. John Bethune Stein was a decend from a very important Scottish family going back to the 2st Robert the First, Lord of Bethune and of Richebourg, who received the appointment year 1011 to 1036 of “Advoue D’Arras”, or proctor and defender of the Church of Arras. This family heald many important rolls in there thousand years of duty in Europe and around the world. There is a great deal of history on this family which is very interesting. Antique Wooden Cigar Humidor Hanging Wood Smoking Cabinet English Oak. Antique wooden smoking cabinet dating to around 1900/1910. This Edwardian english oak pipe rack and humidor is complete with 4 storage compartments and 2 cigar racks on the inside of the original glass bevelled doors. There is a central space at the top which originally would have contained a jar for tobacco either made from glass or wood which is missing. One of the doors on the front can be locked in place via a brass latch. This cabinet has both the option as a stand alone unit on a table or to be hung on a wall out of reach. A great addition to your Victorian home decor or tobacciana collection. This would look great as a bathroom unit or a great gift for Christmas or a birthday. Tobacco cabinet measures 16 wide by 8 deep by 18 tall and weighs 13lbs 8oz. This smoking cabinet is in good usable condition with signs of light use commensurate with age.
