This is an absolutely gorgeous Elie Bleu humidor. About 10 years old. Although a standard size (75 cigars) they do not make humidors like this any longer with a smaller amount of decorative inlay work. Today, they are either plain wood finish, or highly decorated. There is no in-between like this one. This humidor (light color stained burled walnut) has a beautiful decorative band around the top and bottom, utilizing 3 different inlay woods. The detail work in this decorative band is quite remarkable – which I guess is why they do not make them like this any longer (blow up the picture to see the detail of 3 different woods). Its a huge amount of work for a relatively subtly but distinctive decoration. Believe me – it makes the humidor sing in a way that the plain wood humidors do not. The humidor is still extremely tight fitting. The interior now has an extraordinary scent of the cedar combined with fine cigars that have been in it for 10 years. Open it up and it transports you into a fine walk-in humidor! The scent is that strong, and beautiful. On the top , front left corner, there are a few dark spots. They are under the finish, and the finish remains perfect. Smooth, glossy, and no traces of any scratches anywhere. These spots appeared after I had the humidor for 5 years. I sent pictures to Elie Bleu and they told me they are from an imperfection in the staining, and that they appear, rarely, several years after the unit has been lacquered. It is a very minor thing, but it is there…. The brass humidifier inside is beginning to show signs of oxidation from being wet for 10 years! The interior pad has been changed regularly, and it works perfectly, but it is beginning to look a bit distressed (see picture). Frankly, my suggestion would be to replace it with a beautiful cedar holder for a Boveda that will also attach magnetically to the plate in the humidifier. My own experience is that the Boveda packs work better than these things, the wooden holder mostly hides the Boveda package, and you are then done for a few months, rather than every 2 weeks having to fill the existing brass unit. Everything is in place, humidifier, hygrometer, the felt padding on the bottom looks like new (see pic), the cedar dividers still fit tightly, the cover closes very tightly. It’s really in beautiful condition. Just too small for me! I moved to Miami last year and have significantly increased my smoking activity! Note: Any “imperfections” that you may think are in the pictures are either reflections or shadows. The piece is perfect, other than the 2 items discussed above.
