Rare 1920s Girard Educators litho 50 cigar humidor tin in excellent condition
This rare 1920s “Girard Educators” litho 50 cigar humidor tin, measuring 5 1/2″ x 5 5/8″, is in excellent condition with no rust, 2 very small dents and some very minor age related paint chips and scratches. Most of the original high gloss finish remains. This highly attractive multicolored tin was made by the Liberty Can Company, Lancaster, PA. It features a detailed portrait of Stephen Girard, a french immigrant and merchant who died in 1831. At the time of his death Girard was considered to be the wealthiest man in America. He left an endowment for the foundation of Girard College which opened in Philadelphia, PA in 1848. The cigars were manufactured by Antonio Roig & Langsdorf Cigar Company, Philadelphia, PA in Factory 872, 1st District, PA.
