For consideration is a rare antique Palmer Cox Brownie “Keystone Cop”/”Policeman” majolica tobacco jar/humidor. The jar measures approx. 6 H x 4.5 W and weighs 15.6 oz. The only base markings are some impressed numbers and is European and most likely Austrian. The tobacco jar is in very good pre-owned condition with slight signs of age, use and wear. Its base has a couple of shallow chips (1/4″ & 3/8″ wide) and a 2 long vertical hairline crack behind its right ear which is virtually unnoticeable from the outside of the jar. It has a couple of tiny chips to the bottom of its lid and a couple minute flea bites to its outside edge. In my opinion it is a very attractive piece that would make a nice addition to a collection or gift. I’ve attached a photo of a group of seven Brownie tobacco jars which I found online.
