Approx 7 1/4″ tall x 4 5/8″ in diameter and made of Terracotta. Excellent original condition with no cracks or breaks and only light wear to the paint.
Nice solid antique shape. Glass has no cracks. Lid has no cracks. Lid is a Johann Maresch. It was originally on a terra cotta humidor. I assume the base broke at some point. It shows some wear and age. Has a small chip and a couple nicks that are visible. Underneath of lid has several as well. See pictures to make your own determination on physical condition.
Lot of 3 antique Johann Maresch Tobacco Jars. Tallest is 9.5. The middle one is possibly repainted and has tiny nick to hat. The one on the right has tiny nick to back of hat.
There is a small chip on Violin and a chip on the back feather of his hat. There is also some paint loss throughout. He has nice size. Please use photos for further description. Any questions please ask. Thank you for looking.
Rare circa early 1900s Humidor Tobacco Jar Signed on the bottom with impressed JM and numbers, attributed to Johann Maresch. There are scattered paint flakes throughout. The base has some professionally repaired chips, done so well that you really have to look for it and then it’s still difficult to see. It appears to be on the top rim of the jar where the lid sits. If there are other repairs, they are not visible. Measures about 8-1/2″ tall x 5″ wide.
ANTIQUE TOBACCO JAR OF A SMILING LADY BUST ON TOP OF A BARREL. BOTTOM HAS BEEN REPAINTED TO MATCH THE LID COLORING. THE LID AND JAR ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. WHILE IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT ON THE INTERIOR OF THE BASE THERE APPEARS TO BE ADDITIONAL PLASTER AS IF TO COVER OR REPAIR A CRACK BUT THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF A CRACK EXTENDING THROUGH TO THE OUTER SHELL. THE JAR MEASURES 7 1/2″ TALL AND APPROX 4 1/2″ WIDE. IT APPEARS THAT THE LID IS PAINTED IN ITS ORIGINAL COLORS BASED ON THE COLORS SHOWN ON THE INTERIOR OF THE LID ITSELF (SHOWN IN PHOTOS). THE BASE OF THE LID BARES THE MARK/SIGNATURE OF JOHANN MARESCH AS SHOWN. THIS IS AN ESTATE FIND AND I DO NOT KNOW THE ORIGIN OR BACKGROUND OF THIS PARTICULAR PIECE. PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS IN THEIR ENTIRETY TO VERIFY CONDITION TO YOUR OWN SATISFACTION.
