Rare French Victorian & Bronze Dog Humidor With Match Safe & Stricker

This humidor is just awesome! Its a bronze dog in the dog house! To the right of the dog in the window, there is a gilt bronze Wisteria vine and to the left of it is a pull chain. When you pull down the pull, it opens the top of the humidor and also opens the door to find the match holder. The top opens but the door is missing a bracket and does not open now. This box is in need of some repair but it is so unusual that it is a “must have” for the pipe smoker! It is missing some molding and also in a couple of spots it is missing some veneer, but all of this can be fixed. The bronze trellis and the dog are very detailed and they have a beautiful patina. The gilt bronze trellis has retained almost all of its gilding and color. Inside the humidor is a silvered paper that surrounded the tobacco and part of it came loose and is lost. The box stands about. 7 1/2″ high by about 6 1/2″ wide by 8 deep. A wonderful humidor to add to your collection or home decor! Victorian Era Antique Tobacco Jar, Humidor

Fairly stunning example of Victorian-era tobacco appreciation, engraved with a date. This was obviously presented to a husband by his wife, on Christmas of 1899. It is a beautiful silver-plated jar with matching lid, inscription on side and also engraved on top. Shows a few dings, but rather than detract, they add to the heritage and charm of this truly singular piece. If you collect tobacco tins, or have a friend who does, this would be a unique addition or a one-of-a-kind present. To the humidor collection, never to be repeated. That the wife appreciated and supported her husband’s love of tobacco–simply wonderful. It will not last. Dating to around 1900 this antique oak humidor was used to store cigars or cigarettes on an after dinner table. Adorned with silverplate straps, corners and handles it has a blank cartouche on top which is ready for the next owners monogram. It is lined and divided internally with cedar to ensure moisture can be easily retained for its original purpose. This would suit any vintage kitchen, man cave or Victorian style property. A great housewarming or early holiday gift idea. MEASUREMENTS Humidor measures 4.2″ tall by 7.5″ deep by 21 wide and weighs 3lb 5oz. CONDITION In good usable condition with the two back corner brackets missing (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description). Finely Carved Victorian Walnut Cigar Humidor Stand c. Finely Carved Victorian Walnut Cigar Humidor Stand, circa 1880. We also feature a growing selction of high-end contemporary & early American furniture. FREE PICK-UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA. Up for your consideration is perhaps the finest carved Victorian-era smoker’s stand, c. It is made of solid walnut, and features 3 humidors of different sizes, each topper with a top carved with tobacco leaves. There is also an ash tray, and a match holder. The stand comprises 9 pieces when disassembled, and several of them are signed with the artist’s mark. In my many years of antiquing, I have not seen a smoker’s stand of comparable quality. The piece stands 32″ tall, and 19″ wide. It is in excellent condition with one concern: there is a crack is the central humidor that occurred from the normal drying of the wood. Also, new dowel rods were added to the ashtray and match holder, so they fit more snugly. Otherwise, the piece is free of chips, cracks, missing pieces or scratches. A truly marvelous piece.
