Antique Handel Lamp Co. Ware Humidor Tobacco Jar Artist Signed Horse Dog Arts and Crafts. Here is a Handel tobacco jar/humidor with a metal cover with a pipe used to hold matchsticks. The actual jar is painted and signed by the artist whose name appears to be something like Runge. The design on the front of the jar is a beautiful horse and a hound type dog. The jar without the top measures about 5 ½ tall while the entire piece measures 7 to the top of the pipe on the metal cover. The metal cover has some wear and dullness. The jar is in very good shape, but a cleaning may make it look even better. The interior is very clean and odorless. On the underside of the lid are the remnants of an old sponge held by a strip of metal. There is corrosion on the underside of the lid. On the bottom of the jar is the Handel stamp and what appears to be #4091 /J. This piece is in very good condition and a great example of Handel ware and arts and crafts design.
