A late 19th century French Beauvais. Salt Glazed Stoneware Tobacco Jar w/ Pewter Cover. A letter “V”is impressed on the bottom of the jar. Size: 5 5/8″ H x 4 1/8″ diameter D. There are wonderful relief figures (4) wrapping around the jar, with two daisy-like flowers between each figure. The figures are bordered below and above with a wonderful beaded repetition, and the base is of a twisted rope design. The color reminds me of a mixtures of caramel and chocolate—very warm and delightful next to a pipe collection. Thank you for looking.
