This is a hard to find AIR TIGHT antique 1890s amber glass cigar jar with its original tin lid…. AIR-TIGHT boldly emb on front…. 1429 1ST DIST PA 50 bold emb on bottom (indicating this jar held 50 cigars)….. Hand blown in mold… Ground threaded wide mouth collar with original unembossed tin lid…. 5″tall x 4 7/8″across lid…. Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean cigar jar. AMETHYST GLASS 1890s ANTIQUE CIGAR JAR WITH LID 50 CIGARS 1ST DISTRICT MICHIGAN

Here’s a real pretty amethyst glass antique cigar jar or advertising humidor over 110 years old from Michigan….. It has its original metal screw on lid! 722 FIRST DISTRICT MICHIGAN (boldly emb on front in circle slug plate). 50 CIGARS bold emb on bottom. Paneled jar with wide mouth threaded lip…. Original metal lid fits perfect….. 5″tall x 5″across lid…. Excellent shiny nice condition with only one smooth open bubble “chip” on top of lip; no other chips or damage. The beautiful amethyst or purple color of this glass is a result of the presence of manganese in the glass, which was a decolorizer to turn the glass clear. Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a boxand some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster. To those “purists” who falsely believe that glass cannot turn this deep amethyst color naturally, I could take you to places where bottles and glass have turned this same shade of purple from being in the sunlight for many years. Early Vintage Antique Glass Cigar Jar Tobacco Fact No. 368 2nd District Wi T

Early Vintage Antique Glass Cigar Jar. 368 2nd District Wi. A scarce tobacco collectable item. There is also a number 50 on the bottom. In well used condition with some small chips along the top rim of the jar and inside of the cover rim. Still a great display piece. No other cracks in the glass or deep scratches just the chips on the top rim and inside lid rim. No chips on the bottom or sides. The front side has a oval area that would have had a paper label attached at one time. The glass has manufacture air bubbles in the glass in spots. Here’s a beautiful clear glass antique cigar jar humidor from Milwaukee, WI with its original metal lid.. Bold emb on front(in circle slug plate)…. 5 1/8″tall x 5″round….. Great shiny condition with only a very tiny surface flake(on threads) and a few surface scratches. No other chips or damage. A nice clean jar. Original metal threaded lid. THE CIGAR JAR AND LID WITH CIGARS STILL INSIDE AND THE JAR STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL METAL BAND SEAL IN TACT. GLASS IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION EXCEPT FOR SOME TINY CHIGGER BITES ON THE TOP EDGE OF THE LID. IT IS VERY CLEAR CLASS AND IT IS EMBOSSED ON THE BOTTOM DISTRICT OF N. THE JAR HAS THE ORIGINAL METAL BAND SEAL THAT HAS NEVER BEEN REMOVED. I COUNTED APPROXIMATELY 40 CIGARS IN THE JAR. THE JAR IS APPROXIMATELY 7″ TALL AND 5″ IN DIAMETER. ALL IT TAKES IS TWO WAY COMMUNICATION. I DO MAKE MISTAKES, BUT WITH COMMUNICATION, PROBLEMS CAN BE RESOLVED ON YOUR SIDE AND MINE.
