Featuring GLASS PRODUCTION STRETCH. Late 19th century Ame ri can antique primitive glass & tin lid, decorative tobacco humidors for. Cigars & pipe tobacco. 7″ Height (handle down) x 9 1/2″ Height (handle up). X 4 5/8″ Width (Barrel) x 3 7/8″ Width (tin lid). For sale is this very nice and very well-preserved, late 19th century Ame ri can antique primitive, pressed amber glass with tin screw lid, wire handle and lathe-turned, black enamel painted wooden hand grasp, tobacco humidor, produced by the Globe Tobacco Co. Detroit, Michigan, circa 1882. It was recently discovered here in a southern New Hampshire estate along the Massachusetts border and is without any cracks or noticeable glass loss. The amber glass has naturally occurring stretch marks in its glass sidewalls, a sign of early, pre-20th century glass production. Its form is meant to resemble a staved wooden barrel cask for storing any number of things in. The screw-on tin lid is original to the glass body and is intact, without dings, dents, loss or deformities and only has some very slight, minimal signs of oxidation on its tin surfaces. The front glass sidewall of the humidor is clearly embossed with the raised typography’Globe Tobacco Company, Detroit, Michigan, Pat. In glorious, well-preserved overall antique condition. Old Copeland Late Spode England Pottery Humidor / Tobacco Jar. The glossy green jar is decorated with raised white images featuring drinking and smoking scenes. The jar is decorated with black writing: Old Jove was once sipping his nectar ripe, When Hermes the wise came in with a pipe;’What’s in that? Said the god, With a somnolent nod–‘A new weed from earth, as ambrosia nice. Which all care will soothe, Make the roughest things smooth, And put you all right in a trice. The bottom part of the jar is decorated with a wide black band. The top rim has a decorative embossed band, as is the base trim. The jar tapers at the base. The cover is black with an applied raised white grapevine design. The green finial has a pointed shape. The bottom part of the cover is rounded with a large open hole. The base is marked, “Copeland LATE Spode, England” — and an impressed mark, “ENGLAND COPELAND”. SIZE: 7 inches high x 5 inches wide. CONDITION: The cover rim has a very tiny nick, and specks of color loss — the inner jar rim has a tiny flake (barely noticeable). The jar is in very good, clean condition. SMOKING MAN WITH FEZ. This is a rare Antique Austrian Majolica SMOKING MAN WITH FEZ TOBACCO JAR Humidor art pottery. It is in the form of the head bust of a 19. Smoking a stogie (cigar). He has brown hair, and is wearing a. The hat serves as a lid, with a recessed area to put a sponge or piece of apple to keep the tobacco moist. This is an elegant storage jar for tobacco or other small items. The modeling of this SMOKING MAN WITH FEZ Tobacco Jar is masterfully done, capturing great character. The colors are deep and the painting and glazes are very well done. The interior of the bottom jar is. Unglazed in white; the bottom of the jar (base) is glazed. With unglazed rim foot. The underside and inside of the cap lid are unglazed. The underside of the. Stamped with impressed mark. 17; and 57 marked in black. This SMOKING MAN WITH FEZ Figural Tobacco Jar is in very good condition. Condition status includes minimal normal wear and rubbing, glaze losses, firing flaws, crazing and fretting. Overall, this item is sound, having no chips, cracks, or major defects, and having had no apparent repairs or restorations. It is noted that old Austrian Majolica is not inherently “perfect” – pieces were mold formed by hand in this era and as such have marks like little dents in the pottery which are glazed over. AUSTRIAN LATE 19TH-EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE PORCELAIN TOBACCO HUMIDOR, DECORATED W/. OVAL CENTER DEER SIDEWALL MEDALLIONS. & CERAMIC LID W/DEER ANTLERS. European Victorian decorate porcelain tobacco humidors. 5″ Height (with lid on) x 4″ Depth x 5 ½ Width (widest point). There are no flea-bites or hairline cracks on either the porcelain lid or jar. In simply terrific, very well preserved condition. This very handsome turn-of-the-century (late 19th to early 20th century) antique Austrian figurative, decorated porcelain tobacco humidor, featuring depictions of bucks and a deer horn decorated ceramic lid, has wonderful, nearly unblemished surfaces and great, complex glazes and a mature, narrow band of color, ranging from deep burnt sienna to burnt umber and warm, buttery cream. The piece is all about sporting and in this case deer hunting, with not one but two stags adorning the front center medallions of both the back and front of the sidewalls of the ceramic jar. On the sides can be seen pointed horns, framing the oval graphic iconography of the deer busts. The lid is also nearly unblemished, with the top featuring bas-relief, sculptural deer antlers placed on top and which act as a lid pull for a hunter’s fingers looking for tobacco for his pipe. Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition. No flea-bites, hairline cracks on either the porcelain lid or jar.
