AIR-TIGHT boldly emb on front…. 1429 1ST DIST PA 50 bold emb on bottom (indicating this jar held 50 cigars)….. Hand blown in mold… Ground threaded wide mouth collar with original unembossed tin lid…. 5″tall x 4 7/8″across lid…. Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean cigar jar. This scarce 1890s paper label “Chimo” 50 cigar humidor tin is in fair condition with some small superficial rust spots on the bottom, a dent on the lid edge and some age related paper chips and discoloration. This very attractive bright red and green tin features an image of a jolly friar smoking a cigar. The cigars were manufactured by C. Myers & Company, York County, PA. In Factory 1190, 1st District, PA. The company’s slogan boasted There was never a better cigar made. Piece does not have any markings, but Ive cross references the piece with other similar examples that say the piece originated in Austria. Piece is in great shape for its age, but does have some chips and paint loss in areas, but still displays amazing for its age. Piece measures 10 1/2 tall, and is a nice displayable size. Here’s a real pretty amethyst glass antique cigar jar or advertising humidor over 110 years old from Michigan….. It has its original metal screw on lid! 722 FIRST DISTRICT MICHIGAN (boldly emb on front in circle slug plate). 50 CIGARS bold emb on bottom. Paneled jar with wide mouth threaded lip…. Original metal lid fits perfect….. 5″tall x 5″across lid…. Excellent shiny nice condition with only one smooth open bubble “chip” on top of lip; no other chips or damage. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a boxand some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster. To those “purists” who falsely believe that glass cannot turn this deep amethyst color naturally, I could take you to places where bottles and glass have turned this same shade of purple from being in the sunlight for many years. Measures 12.5 high, has a couple of chips, one on the base, and the other on the underside of the lid. We believe it is a humidor and tobacco jar and possibly an incense holder. ANTIQUE 1890s AMETHYST GLASS TOBACCO HUMIDOR CIGAR JAR WithORIGINAL GLASS LID

12 sided jar is 6″tall x 4 3/4″across top rim…… 3 3/4″tall (7 1/2″counting lid)… The original 8 sided matching lid has a hollow top with circular “fingers” in middle which held a moistened cloth or sponge which kept the cigars moist. Excellent shiny nice condition with only one chip on top rim of jar and some roughness/tiny nicks on inside ledge of jar. Lid has a couple small chips on edge & some small shallow chips/dings on bottom inside edge. Jar and lid are both sparkling clean with no haze.
