This vintage 1945 John Middleton De Luxe Tobacco Blending Chest offers an exceptional, complete window into mid-20th-century tobacciana craftsmanship. Produced in 1945 by the renowned Philadelphia blender established in 1856, this set features its original embossed storage chest housing a complete layout of glass tobacco jars with gold-tone caps and intact paper brand seals. The glass lineup includes two large canisters marked for Shredded Plug and Selbur tobaccos, along with five smaller component jars featuring Perique, Virginia, Latakia, Regimental, and Walnut blends. All glass jars are completely empty of physical tobacco, but they retain a rich, authentic vintage pipe tobacco aroma when unsealed-a fantastic addition for any collector or gentleman’s study display. The set comes complete with its original presentation lid insert featuring a clear cut-out display window, glass measuring jigger, and original informational literature including “The Secret of Blending Pipe Tobacco” and Of Pipes and Men… Inside the lid casing, the original decorative gold bow remains attached alongside a handwritten 1945 gift tag (“To Dad from Maud”), providing personal provenance from the year it was originally presented. Ideal for tobacciana collectors, WWII-era history displays, or historic gentleman’s lounge decor, this complete 1945 blending set stands in remarkable display condition. Any trace micro-residue from original contents is historical and non-consumable.
