Beautiful and Old Majolica Tobacco Jar Humidor of a Bull with a Pipe and Umbrella in Green Overcoat, 5 3/4″H x 2 3/4″ x 4, size approx. We guarantee NO reproductions of any kind. This is antique majolica Humidor of a Bull with a Pipe and Umbrella in Green Overcoat, 5 3/4″H x 2 3/4″ x 4. According to the estate sale, this majolica humidor has professional repairs to one horn and also small chip to its bottom edge. Otherwise no crack or other chip. The professional repairs are hard to see as we can’t tell where they are and therefore it is being offered in as is. Please see last pictures. Like most antique majolica, it has some crazing and discoloration. Please disregard the lighting glares.

PIPE SMOKING BULL Tobacco Jar Antique AUSTRIAN MAJOLICA Pottery Humidor, c. 1895

PIPE SMOKING BULL Tobacco Jar Antique Majolica Pottery Humidor, c1895. This is a rare antique Austrian Majolica Tobacco Jar known as the PIPE SMOKING BULL. This two-piece tobacco jar, or humidor, is modeled in deep relief. The hand painting, décor, and glaze are very well done. The subject is a well-attired Bull smoking a long pipe, wearing large great coat, and holding an umbrella. The head forms the top lid. The lid (head) has a recessed area to put a damp sponge, and is nicely fitted on the matching base. The tobacco jar is decorated with stylized accents, and colors including a background decorated with sage green, brown, and purple. On both the top and the base, the inside is glazed; the underside of the top is unglazed; and the underside base is glazed with the exception of the rim edge which is unglazed. On the underside base, 4874 and 14 are impressed marks; 01 is marked underglaze in black. This is fine antique Austrian majolica, earthenware that has an opaque tin glaze, made in Austria. The estimated date is early 20th Century, circa 1896. Tall X 3.5 In. Wide X 3.0 In. This Antique Austrian Majolica PIPE SMOKING BULL Tobacco Jar is in mostly good condition, noting the top of the left horn and top of the right horn are chipped off; on the upper outside edge of the top cover there is a chip on the right side- ½ in. There is a ¼ in. X ¼ x ¼ in. Rim chip on the left side; and another ¼ in. X ¼ x ¼. Rim chip on the back side. Otherwise, condition status includes minimal normal wear and rubbing, glaze losses, firing flaws, crazing, and fretting. Overall, this work is sound, having no chips, cracks, or major defects, and having had no apparent repairs or restorations. Please note that this item is photographed in natural light; shadows that may appear as irregularities are not necessarily chips, cracks, or discoloration. Please see all photos which are a part of this description. It is noted that old French Majolica is not inherently “perfect” – pieces were mold formed by hand in this era and as such have marks like little dents in the pottery which are glazed over. Antique German French majolica Figural Humidor FAT DOG Anthropomorphic Pug Bull

This wonderful 100+ year old figural ceramic tobacco jar is most likely French or German and measures 8 tall x 64 ½ overall. The jar takes the form of a pipe-smoking well-fed pug resplendent in formal frock coat that grabs a bit in his middle. It has very nice colors and details and shows some minor damage from use: glued-on chip to outside rim and nicks and glaze chips to inside rim and chipped ear with touch-up. There are no cracks and it has typical impressed numerals on the bottom. The lid has an area for a damp sponge. Pipe Humidor Paint Milk Glass ESA Three Guardsmen Bull Dogs Antique RARE Tobacco Hand Painted Milk Glass Humidor. Engraved with ESA on the top of the silverplate lid. This piece is AS IS. Has one large crack down the front and another smaller one on the side. Even so it is still very special and rare. Three dogs with I believe are bulldogs grace the front with Three Guardsmen written beneath. Maybe they are English Bull dogs. The lid is Rockford Silver P Co. 47 and Shows some scales and Also says Quadruple for Quadruple silver plate. 6 1/2 by 4 3/4 wide.
