Late 1800’s cigar humidor! Closes, lathes, but we dont have the key. Incredible workmanship with lovely detailing. See pics for condition. Wood has a nice crackling lacquer but sadly one ornate metal corner is missing. Inside is tarnished with age. Two original nails replaced with screws.
This is an authentic antique oak cigar humidor box from the 1890s. It is a rare find for collectors of tobacco memorabilia and humidors. The box has a beautiful design and is well-crafted. LOUIS, MO all boldly emb on front in large fancy ceraph letters…. 73 1ST DISTRICT STATE OF MISSOURI 50 CIGARS all embossed on bottom… Early machine made jar…. Threaded wide mouth with original metal lid… Clear (but would turn amethyst as it glows brightly under blacklight)….. 5 1/4″tall x 5 3/8″across lid….. Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean jar with only some faint inside haze. This is a hard to find cigar jar from the 1890s or early 1900 period……. Fabulous 1890s figural silver plated, Rogers and Smith Meriden Connecticut hunting dog humidor. Measuring 8.25″ x 4.5″ x 7.5, the silver plated humidor boasts embossed foliate decoration and two large plated dogs to the double lids. One dog, a spaniel, holds a dead duck in its mouth, while the other dog looks on, perhaps jealously.
This tobacco humidor has been made from terracotta and has been hand painted with charming details and realistic expression. The character for this Tobacco Jar is a young man wearing a Tweed Berry and a large bow-tied neck tie. Stands about 6.25” tall and about 4.5” in width. The bottom has been marked with BB – 78- 399.
