Antique railroad car humidor (ONE OF A KIND) Historical
I received this as a gift more than 25 years ago. This is what I know: This antique railroad car humidor is ONE OF A KIND. For years I assumed “The Ladies of Norseman” on the engraving were a group in England. I now know these ladies were from Norseman, Australia and presented this specifically in the shape of a railcar due to Moore’s strong promotion of a rail system in that part of Australia. Sir Newton James Moore was the 8th Premier of Western Australia from 7 May 1906 to 16 September 1910. At 36 years old, he was at the time the youngest ever premier. His emphasis was on agriculture development and railroad expansion. At some point he move to England and became a member of Parliament. He died in London, England, in 1936 at the age of 66. I have never tried to repair any part. The last two picture show the bottom of the boxcar and the bottom with the wheels. At one time they appear to have been attached.
